Mecha (jap. メカ meka?, from eng. mechanism) — a subgenre in anime, manga, and Science Fiction, the main attribute of which are huge combat humanoid machines, specific cases of walkers, as well as the general name for these machines themselves. The name comes from a Japanese slang abbreviation of the English word «mechanical». Initially, this word denoted any complex technical devices, but later the term became associated specifically with fantastic humanoid piloted military machines.
